House Hunting

Searching
for the perfect home.
a place
for us
for me
But

I will not find it here.

Eden
is gone.

The way back
barred.

and the rooms we find here
hijacked
unable
to contain my soul

unable
to be what we long for

always promising
but even the promises are hollow.

And so...
we keep searching
we keep following

We keep hunting
and
make our home in You
You
make Your home in us

You
the promise
of Eden
renewed.

       ~
How I long for You
How I miss You
my Eden

missing what I never knew
but knowing
what should have been
that I want
You.

I want to walk with You
in the gardens
to see You
and know You.

And I wonder if
while You were here
You missed it, too.

I wonder if,
even now,
You miss it, too.

  1. Love this as usual. And you know, I never thought about how Jesus must have missed Eden. Such an interesting thought! Thank you for your words!

    1. Thanks, Leslie. I guess i was just thinking that since we miss it, as a man - he would miss it like we do. And then, as God - He created it for Adam and Eve and walked with them there and He must have wanted - even enjoyed walking with them in the garden (or He wouldn't have, right?) - and so...maybe He misses it like we do. Maybe...maybe He misses it more than we do.

    1. :-) One day we will reminisce together about the missing and how it's been swallowed up the joy of finally having/being in/with what we've been longing for all this time. I'm waiting for it....
