after they saw the star
and searched, it seems,
long
and far
for You. (Matt. 2:1-2)
The shepherds weren't seeking You
until the angel came
after that
they went right away
from their fields to the neighboring town
to see if they could find
to see if it was true. (Luke 2:8-20)
There's Simeon (Luke 2:25-32) and Anna (Luke 2:36-38)
who knew You were coming
and didn't go anywhere
but watched for You in the temple
seeking You every day
in each new face...
There is indifference
but
there's also different kinds of seeking
And then -
there's Herod.
He sought You, too. (Matt. 2:13)
But
The shepherds
the wise men
Anna
Simeon
found what they sought
rejoiced
and worshiped You.

This is beautiful. I love that the One we seek is not hidden—He wants to be found, and He's seeking us, too.
ReplyDeleteThank you for coming by, Kara! Yes, He wants to be found - the treasure hunt where the treasure is helping you find it. :-)
