Past

picture of Storm Coming - Isbushka in Novosibirsk - "Past" (poem) brokenbreadandsmallfish.com
Novosibirsk, Russia
Past
    Eden
    garden
    innocence
    wholeness
    together
    You

Past
    fruit
    forbidden
    tempting
    sweet
    bitter
    desolation
    thorns
    desert
    emptiness
    separation

Past
    darkness
    hill
    cross
    pain
    death
    Separation

Past
    Death
    defeated

    Stone
    moved

    Veil
    torn..

    a way back

to You.

Present
    path
    way in the wilderness
    streams in the desert
    whispers of You

You
    on the air
    in the wind
    on our tongues
    on our lips

    our eyes...still waiting

waiting
for You.

One day
    this will be past, too.

All our future is You.

  1. This is really beautiful. Thank you for sharing these word pictures. I love the simple profundity of poetry. Why did you choose that particular image? (or would you rather leave it up to interpretation?;-)

    1. Thank you, Leslie! I chose the picture because of the contrast between the light and the darkness, and the fact that it happens at the house and the tree...the house because our "present" - where we live - is intersected both by the light and the darkness, and by our past and our future. The tree because it was a tree in the garden and a tree in our redemption. The tree in the picture divides the light from the darkness....and the shadow of the tree falls across the house - across our "present". The car is situated to move into the light.....seemed to be all kinds of symbolism in the picture.

It was just a chance picture - I snapped it with my phone from a moving car just this week...before I wrote the post.
