She bears scars
many
deep
painful
and
I see they are there but
I know I don't understand
How deep they are
how broken her life is
I want to heal
But
the surface is
all I can touch
The surface is
not where she feels them.
And there's nothing I can do
But call to You
You bear her scars, too.
-2-
You bear her scars, too.
You see her dark, hidden places
You know
pain
damage
where it begins
and ends.
Your touch
(If she will let You touch her)
Can go all the way through
You know
You bear her scars, too.
-3-
The wound heals
but the scar remains
a reminder of the pain
carried to this day
See the scar
and remember
the wound
destroying
draining life away
the scar
a reminder
that it had to be fixed
and it was fixed
tho' it won't be the same
as before
See the scar
and remember
touch the broken hands (John 20:26-27)
weep over the feet that bleed (Luke 7:36-47)
over the scars
that heal my wounds
You bear her scars, too.

I love the way the body works ... as you eloquently said, we can't do much to remove the suffering of others. But we can bear it with them. Thanks for linking with Velvet Ashes!
ReplyDeleteYes, we can bear it with them - and ask the Lord to enter in...thank you, Amy! I've been enjoying Velvet Ashes!
DeletePerhaps we are most like our Lord when we willingly take up another's scars. We are members of one Body, and we may be asked by our Lord to do that hard work of bearing another's suffering.
