Today I'm writing at Djibouti Jones as part of the "Let's go Flaneuring" series. When Rachel Pieh Jones invited us to walk through our cities and describe what we see, I realized that I've lived in Novosibirsk for so long I no longer truly see it. The first few years, I was able to answer when someone asked, "How is it different?" But lately I pause and think, "IS it different?"
Of course it is, because every city has its own unique flavor and culture. So does every city block. So come, join me, and see what I see as I go for a walk around the block in Novosibirsk, Siberia.

(note: for those of you from Siberia who may be puzzled - I went for this walk and wrote the post at the beginning of November. That's why there's a relatively small amount of snow in the pictures, compared to what there is in January. And no, the billboard doesn't really say Broken Bread and Small Fish.)
