Am I Disappointed? - Mark 2:1-12 Post 5

Chalkboard: Mark 2:1-12 Post 5
I wonder if the paralyzed man was disappointed at Your first words.  I think I would have been.  You say, "Your sins are forgiven" (Mark 2:5).  But I wanted to move, to do things, to be what I was meant to be.  I don't want to be paralyzed anymore.

I guess I don't really know for sure that the
paralyzed man came hoping he would leave on his feet.
Maybe he just wanted to see and hear You.
Maybe he knew he needed Your forgiveness.
Maybe his motives were all mixed up. (It's usually complicated, because we're complicated.)

Most likely, though, he came to You because he desperately wanted to move, to walk.  He had heard the news about You, and You were his only hope for what he was so sure he wanted.

But You didn't heal him.  Not at first.

Was he disappointed?  Am I?  When I overcome serious obstacles to bring my hopes and my dreams before You, and You...

...You look past them and do something different?  Do I sigh and turn my head away and MISS YOU?

Or...do I realize that what You did was beyond my wildest dreams?  That THIS is the best thing that could have ever happened to me?

I come to You, and You see past what I am asking for.  You see past and through my earthbound dreams and give me the one thing I really need.
