My Hysterectomy in Siberia Part 1

Lenin's Square in Novosibirsk, Russia
Lenin's Square in Novosibirsk, Russia
We had always assumed that if one of us needed surgery we would head back to the States for it, barring an emergency.  But when the doctor told me that I needed to have surgery and not delay, my first thought was, "I'm going to do it here."

I was a little surprised myself, but I felt a confidence that I had not yet felt during the whole time of dealing with what my Russian doctor was now calling a "giant" uterine fibroid.

The Story of a King - Mark 1:1-8 Post 2

Chalkboard: Mark 1:1-8 Post 2
It's not just any story.  It's the story of a king - THE king.  My king.

"Christ" in Greek and "Messiah" in Hebrew both mean "anointed one," which usually referred to the king.

So, saying "Jesus Christ" (Mark 1:1) is saying "Jesus the anointed one" or...."Jesus the King."  What does that make me feel?

Where Does the Gospel Begin? - Mark 1:1-8, Post 1

Chalkboard: Mark 1:1-8 Post 1
Mark 1:1-8 starts, "The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ..."  This seems like the middle of the story to me, not the beginning.  John the Baptist is already baptizing people at the Jordan and Jesus is about to come.  I wonder why Mark starts here rather than with the birth of Jesus?

Sitting Down to the Feast of God's Word

Chalkboard: The Gospel of Mark: A FeastReading.  Thinking.  Pondering.  Meditating.  Letting it work its way down into the depths of my heart and my being...I love spending time reading and thinking about the Word of God.  Staying with it until He speaks to me through it.
